Coleraine Borough is an outstandingly beautiful area featuring some of the most spectacular countryside in Northern Ireland. It encompasses the resorts of Portrush, Portstewart, Portballintrae, Downhill and Castlerock, the busy shopping town of Coleraine, and the small market towns of Kilrea and Garvagh.

The borough of Coleraine covers 310 SQ Kilometres and lies between the picturesque River Bann Valley, Sperrin Mountains and the stunning Causeway Cost. It has a population of 58,318 (2001 census), 20,597 of which reside in the town of Coleraine, 13,095 living in Portrush and Portstewart Areas. It has an urban/rural split of 66/34, with a rural population of 22,642.
